The tournament joins the US and Aussie Opens in implementing video review systems.
Replay technology will be launched at The Championships this year.
Athletes are granted the ability to challenge particular rulings made by the chair umpire, mirroring the practice already in place at each of the US Open and the Aussie major.
The new system will be accessible on the main stadium and the number one court throughout the tournament and on the other four show courts when they are staging singles contests.
This step follows just a year after the AELTC implemented ELC, which brought an end to the 147-year role of line officials.
Reviewable Decisions
Competitors cannot to dispute the call of the ELC system, but are allowed to ask for the official to review other situations, including:
- If a ball has bounced twice.
- If a shot made contact with an opponent's racquet or body during play.
- Potential hindrance end of a rally.
Importantly, there is an unlimited number on the amount of reviews a player can ask for.
Practical Application
An illustrative case took place in Indian Wells last week, where Daniil Medvedev used the video challenge against his opponent.
Draper admitted it was a difficult call for the official, but believed his rival had "used the regulations effectively."
Official Aurelie Tourte watched a replay and ruled Draper was responsible for interference, awarding the rally to his opponent.
Broader Adoption
Video reviews aren't exclusive to Grand Slams. The system was adopted at the US Open for two years and the Aussie Open this year.
Furthermore, it is becoming more common on the WTA circuit, and by next season the ATP circuit will have the system in place at every one of its tournaments.
Further Updates
A further innovation at Wimbledon this year involves the addition of graphical cues on displays to complement the audio calls from the electronic line calling system.
This addresses situations where spectators have sometimes been unsure whether a shot was out or in.
Finally, with exactly 100 days to go until the beginning of the Championships, organizers have also revealed an increase in daily capacity at the qualifying competition in the qualifying venue.
